About

One Artist - Several Distinct Creative Lines

Designer and owner, Vibeke Alnor Fong, was born and raised in Denmark. She came to Los Angeles,  California in 1984. Vibeke enjoys the mega-city's cultural diversity and its proximity to moun-tains, desert, beaches and forests.

Inspiration for
Alnor Design creations often come from various museum visits (art, natural history, science), zoos and aquariums, strolls and walks in city and nature as well as from the very fabric or gemstone. Designs range from traditional and classic to modern and abstract to playful and relaxed.

Alnor Designs are typically striking, yet harmonious. The emphasis is to
enhance and complement, but not to overpower or overshadow.

Alnor Design
began as Alnor Liturgeia in 2006, followed by Alnoria Jewelry in 2008 and Milestone Pals in 2010 but Vibeke Alnor Fong has sewn, drawn, painted and dabbled in a variety of creative crafts since her teens.

It was a natural progression for Vibeke to put her creativity into business when she completed her B.A. in Religious Studies (religious art specialty) in 2006. Vibeke's thesis [“The History and Development of the Chasuble”] provided sound theological foundation for combining religious symbols and color schemes with textiles and fabrics, gemstones and precious metals in unique designs.

Visits to numerous museums and places of worship in Europe and United States, including a number of specially granted behind-the-scenes access to off-limits collections of liturgical textiles and religious art provide Alnor Design rare, in depth knowledge and familiarity with designs and materials.

Alnor Liturgeia vestments have been commissioned by congregations and pastors in California and Denmark. A bishop's cope made specifically for overseas travel by Bishop Steen Skovsgaard was among those published in Vibeke Lindhardt's 2013 book "Se min kåbe" [See my cope].

This multi-faceted research aided and inspired Vibeke greatly when she began to craft artisan jewelry. Initially only intended for personal wear but soon requests for necklaces and earrings came from family
members, friends and acquaintances along with special wishes for a particular style or gemstone. Thus Alnoria Jewelry was added to the Alnor Design name in 2008.

Milestone Pals are the result of a friend's request for a number of so-called memory bears to honor and commemorate a recently deceased family member. Milestone Pals have become a cornerstone of Alnor Design to celebrate births, baptisms and other life milestones or to bring comfort and closeness to someone grieving, bereaved or dealing with life transitions.

Alnor Design does not mass produce any piece. Each is a unique creation. If a design is replicated it will be with some changes in fabric or ornamentation for Milestone Pals, chasubles, copes and stoles or choice of gemstones, pearls or findings for jewelry.
