FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

MILESTONE PALs FAQs (frequently asked questions)

What kind of clothes or articles can I submit for a Milestone Pal?
A wide variety of fabrics are perfectly suitable for making
Milestone Pals. Favorite articles of clothing such as dresses, gowns, certain types of wedding attire, shirts, suits, pants, trousers, housecoats, unifoms and pajamas are excellent choices. Accent pieces could be ties and bandanas. Other suitable items include linen, thin blankets, wraps, stoles and table cloths.

Cotton, silk, flannel, wool or such fabrics blended with synthetics are very good choices for durability and stability as they do not stretch. The least suitable fabrics include knits, lace, very thin and delicate fabrics as well as see-through (such as chiffon) and highly stretchable materials (such as pantyhose).

When selecting garments choose some that remind you of your loved one. This can be a well-worn work shirt, a special occasion dress or a comfortable pajamas.

How much fabric (how many garments) needed?
Approximately the equivalent to 1/2 yard of 48" wide fabric is needed to make an 18" Milestone Pal.  An adult sized garment is usually sufficient. However, many prefer to use multiple pieces of favorite clothing for a mix-and-match look. If you have only one garment Alnor Design can supplement accent pieces.

Do garments need to be washed in advance?
Yes please. Alnor Design works only with laundered or dry cleaned items. Alnor Design will charge $25 fee to wash/dry clean items. Heavily scented garments or items smelling of smoke will be returned.

Alnor Design understands the desire to keep a lingering scent of a beloved's favorite perfume, cologne or lotion that is sometimes embedded in a garment but must insist that all clothing items submitted to become a Milestone Pal are clean and close to scent-free.

Should I iron the clothes?
If the garments are exceedingly wrinkled upon laundry please so iron them.

How do I pack the garments for shipping?
Gently fold or roll the garments. If tissue paper is available wrap or roll garments in tissue prior to placing in large ziplock bag. Push out excess air as you close the bag. Bobble-wrap plastic bag and place inside heavy duty envelope or use padded envelope. Remember to enclose your completed Order Form and payment along with the garments.

How do I ship the garments?
You can use use the U.S. Postal Service, FedEx or UPS to ship the garments to Alnor Design. Please advise me by email to info@Alnordesign.com when you have mailed the garments so I can be on the look-out for them. It is most helpful if you can provide me with a tracking number.

Are Milestone Pals child safe?
