Soft and huggable, Milestone Pals make excellent shower or baptismal gifts. They are appropriate appreciations to mark life events such as an achivement or accomplishment. Milestone Pals also make great companions and can bring comfort during time of grief, bereavement or transition.

Milestone Pals are available as a traditional teddy bear or an elephant using the same hand-me-down pattern as was used for the elephant Vibeke received as a birth gift.

Milestone Pals are of heirloom quality destined to become keepsakes handed down from generation to generation. Both the teddy bear and the elephant are 18” tall (standing). Felt is used for eyes and noses and hand-stitched to the body of your Milestone Pal.

Fabrics for Milestone Pals can either be submitted by the customer or chosen by Vibeke Fong from her inventory based on input and preferences. A wide variety of fabrics are perfectly suitable for making Milestone Pals. Favorite articles of clothing such as dresses, gowns, certain types of wedding attire, shirts, pants, suits and pajamas are excellent choices. Accent pieces like ties and bandanas also work well. Cotton, silk, wool or these fabrics in blends with synthetics are very good choices for durability and stability.

Other suitable items include thin blankets, shawls, wraps, linens and table cloths. The least suitable fabrics include knits, lace, very thin and delicate fabrics as well as see-through (such as chiffon) and highly stretchable materials (such as pantyhose).

Birth or Baby Shower Milestone Pal

Welcome a new baby with a custom-made Milestone Pal using fabrics of clothing worn by the parents-to-be or from a garment of special significance to the family. Fabrics that match or complement the decor where baby will spend time is another option. Alternatively Alnor Design can select fabrics from its stock. This is an excellent choice when you order a Milestone Pal as a gift. A complimentary "birth certificate" accompanies your Milestone Pal.

Baptismal Milestone Pal

Give a custom made Milestone Pal to a child on his/her baptism, blessing, presentation or naming day. Celebrate this significant milestone with the gift of an heirloom quality Milestone Pal. A complimentary "naming certificate" accompanies your Milestone Pal.

It is possible to scan i.e. a birth announcement or photo onto special fabric transferable paper and make it part of the Milestone Pal.

When a Milestone Pal is ordered at the same time as an Alnor Design baptismal gown it will naturally be sewn from the same fabric and delivered together with the gown. Alternatively, Alnor Design selects the fabrics in consultation with the customer.

Celebration & Commemorative Milestone Pal
Celebrate a life milestone with a Milestone Pal. Turn a graduation gown, a prom dress, a sports or Scout uniform or some other "never to be worn again" garment into a Milestone Pal as a reminder of a special day, an accomplishment or an achievement. Get the garment out of the closet and have it turned into a Milestone Pal you can watch and touch.

Comfort & Cuddle Milestone Pal
For tough or troubled times a Milestone Pal may ease the pain of loss, longing and life transitions such as distance, divorce, custody, college, work issues, relocation; dealing with abuse, physical and mental disorders; life altering or life threatening diseases.

In such instances a Milestone Pal can be a safe companion, a silent confidente to turn to when facing challenges and making decisions. A great number of people of all ages find a customized Milestone Pal soothing as they struggle and take steps to get stronger.

FURTHER CUSTOMIZATION OF YOUR MILESTONE PAL

Embroidery:
An extra special touch to any Milestone Pal is to embroider a name, date or sentiment onto the bottom of the foot of your bear or foot/ear of the elephant. Embroidery is done by hand and scaled to fit available space.

Patches:
Personalize your Milestone Pal by adding a patch that holds special significance or symbolism such as a cross, heart, angel, rainbow or butterfly. A patch can also be submitted along with the garments chosen for your Milestone Pal.

Depending on the size of the patch it can be attached to either the sole of the foot or the body of your Milestone Pal. Patches will be machine-stitched onto the Milestone Pal.
